CONNECTING COMMUNICATORS ON CINCO DE MAYO

On May 5, 1862 France invaded the Mexican city of Puebla. Mexican forces won that battle, however a year later the French occupied Mexico in retaliation. Through negotiations and with the encouragement from the United States the French withdrew their occupation from Mexico in 1867. Today many Americans regardless of ethnic origin observe Cinco de Mayo.

Capitol Communicator  will honor Cinco de Mayo by connecting communicators from different communicator origins while consuming some beverages, foods, and sounds from our fine neighbors to the south.

You are invited to join Capitol Communicator, DC Ad Club, Ad-2, Ad Club’s young professional group, American Marketing Association –DC Chapter, Capital Area Healthcare Communicators, Public Relations Society of America – National Capital Chapter, Independent Public Relations Alliance, Washington Women in Public Relations and Young MC on Cinco de Mayo.

Whether you are a member of any of these groups or not, this is an event not to be missed. Representatives from each group will be promoting the unique membership opportunities their associations have to offer.

This event is being held at Local 16, one of the best restaurant/club venues in DC. Located in DC’s vibrant U Street area, Local 16 emphasizes organic meats and sustainable agriculture from local growers. Executive Chef Eric McKamey has worked at Palena, Central, Proof, CityZen and 2941. Local 16 also has one of the best outdoor upper decks in DC.

Local 16 is a 10 minute walk from the Red Line Woodley Park-Zoo/Adams Morgan station and the Green Line U Street/African-Amer Civil War Memorial/Cardozzo station. On-street parking is limited however the two nearest garages are The Park at Adams Morgan, 1711 Florida Avenue Northwest; and the Frank D. Reeves Municipal Centerr,14th and U Streets.
