WHAT WE DO
IABC/DC Metro services a diverse body of members across the National Capital area (Washington, D.C., Northern Virginia, and Maryland). The commitment to our members takes shape in three conceptual pillars: engagement, education, and connection.
Engagement
Through monthly newsletters, our Capitol-Cast blog, LinkedIn discussions, chapter meetings, and niche communicator groups, IABC/DC Metro seeks to inform and engage members at every career level, and in every sector. The niche communicator groups are a resource to the members of IABC/DC Metro, and a source for networking and professional development for communicators working within specific professions including Senior Communicators (15+ years of experience), Independent communicators, Greater Maryland Special Interest, Government Communicators, and New Communicators.
Education
IABC/DC Metro chapter meetings are engaging and interactive opportunities for professional development. Guest speakers are some of the most innovative and influential communicators in the region. Chapter meeting topics range from social media trends to career advancement insights. Recaps of chapter meetings, communications trends and guest blogger thoughts can be found at the Capitol-Cast blog. IABC’s accreditation program is a commitment to the highest standard of communications excellence. Accreditation is also an opportunity to learn the highest standards of strategic communication practiced around the globe.
Connection:
There is nothing like a personal connection. IABC/DC Metro hosts activities that strive to create and strengthen the professional connections between members. Networking happy hours, Senior Communicator breakfast meetings, and Independent Practitioner luncheons are some of the ways IABC/DC Metro connects to members.
IABC/DC Metro works to engage, educate and connect with the best communicators in the Washington metro area.
